like a dragon: infinite wealth - 9/10
TOMIZAAAWAAAAAA....
people are calling this the best JRPG in years whilst some fans take it upon themselves to argue on twitter about it.
as a long-time yakuza fan, it's not my favourite, even with recency bias talking, but the actual passion, graft and quality on display here from such a hectic dev cycle is to be commended considering that it features more content than a fair few other franchises made without such restraints, and especially not on yakuza budgets.
after not liking like a dragon too much (admittedly, that was the first time through, and because i missed kiryu) this was a very pleasant surprise. it's a refinement of the things that i found irritating in like a dragon, with an ichiban who has been moulded by the events of that game and grown into his own as a protagonist, also being accompanied by kiryu and a whole slew of new faces that are all deserving of such praise.
i genuinely really, really dug this game, and if this is reflective of where we're going to be going in future with the mainline games, any doubts or shakiness i had from like a dragon are now thoroughly quashed. this game is awesome.
