super shite-ing robot more like
currently playing: elec man theme - avyel (mega man, cover)
i had written an entire review and backloggd just sort of didnt register it. that itself is emblematic of mega man as a whole - you can try all you like, but sometimes some bullshit will intrude on even your hardest attempts, with no way of you possibly knowing it was approaching, and it'll reset your progress. this game has moments, but they are fleeting and not nearly high enough to justify my recommendation or my praise of this game. it is a very supremely poor opener to this series.
in very brief, to cover my main points from that now lost review: the weapons in this game feel like dogshit, whether that be due to outright low damage output or being so situational to a point of impracticality. the platforming is overly slippery on the ground, and yet so incredibly horribly heavy in the air, making for a combination that feels like you're trying to drive an SUV with all of its tires shot out. and the level design drops off hard in the final stretch and heavily accentuates those prior two flaws, arguably harps on them to derive "challenge", and overall delivers an incredibly frustrating and unrewarding last act. unfortunately quite horrible to play in the current year. i wish i had better things to say about it as a start of such a prolific series - one that i do already have quite a liking for - but yeah, no, this shit is ass.
