god this shit is so peak except the one area where it's dogshit

god DAMN. everything about this game absolutely goddamn shreds. literally my only complaint is meridia. just, like, all of it. axe the area, it's nothing but an annoyance. outside of that, though? this game is seen as (half of) the blueprint for a whole-ass genre for a reason. it's an amazing experience.

it oozes atmosphere. it truly has moments of true and utter tension. so much stylistic flair to samus, too - the later games would adapt a hyper-futurism and a focus on samus being, indeed, a woman, predominantly, but here, it's all about her being a capable woman who can kick ass, surrounded by dank, natural environments with only a mild hint of futurism as the space pirates have made sections of the planet their own.

there is a reason that this is lauded as one of the best to ever do it. truly amazing.
